Ranbir Kapoor

Ranbir Kapoor was born on 28 September 1982 to Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. He began his career by assisting director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and later made his acting debut with the director’s 2007 film Saawariya for which he won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. Before making his debut in Saawariya, Kapoor was in New York pursuing method acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. In 2008, Kapoor starred on his only release of the year Bachna Ae Haseeno alongside Bipasha Basu, Minissha Lamba and Deepika Padukone. The film was a semi-hit at the box-office. Among the cast members Ranbir was highly praised. This went on to win him critical praise. The year 2009 was a turning point in Ranbir’s career as he starred in three movies, proving his versatility as an actor. His first release was Ayan Mukerji’s Wake Up Sid, in which he portrayed the character of Siddharth Mehra, a spoiled and self-centered college student from Mumbai. Featured opposite Konkona Sen Sharma, the film was a critical and commercial success. The biggest hit for in 2009 was alongside Katrina Kaif in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, He portrayed the role of Prem Shankar Sharma where he went to fall in love with Kaif in the film, The film surfaced as one of the biggest hits of the year.

His last movie that year was Shimit Amin’s Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year. Ranbir did a wonderful job but the film was declared below average at the B.O. In 2011, Ranbir starred opposite newcomer Nargis Fakhri in Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar. The film earned Kapoor a Best Actor and Best Actor (Critics) award at the 57th Filmfare Awards. 2012 was good for Ranbir once again as he starred in only one film Barfi! opposite Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz. Directed by Anurag Basu, , the film got released on 14 September 2012 and did very well at Box Office being declared Super Hit at Box Office India becoming 6th Highest Grossing film of the year The film is sent as India’s official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film nomination for the 85th Academy Awards in February 2013. In 2013 Ranbir will be seen in three films, Ayan Mukerji’s Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani alongside Deepika Padukone, Abhinav Kashyap’s Besharam alongside Pallavi Sharda, and Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet opposite Anushka Sharma.
